National Coming Out Day celebrates coming out as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, ally, asexual and/or pansexual person. The event was created to help increase the visibility of our community.
The first National Coming Out Day was held on October 11, 1988, commemorating the 1987 march on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. The demonstration led to the founding of many LGBTQ organizations, in addition to National Coming Out Day.
LGBTQ Affairs works closely with Pride Student Union to celebrate National Coming Out Day! Check back for more details on this year’s NCOD!
